Admission Requirements

Master of Science (MS) in Occupational Therapy

  • The GRE is NOT required for program admission!
  • Students from any major are welcome to apply!
  • Program requires a 6 semester, 24-month commitment (4 semesters on-campus/2 off-campus at assigned fieldwork sites).
  • All applications must be submitted through the OTCAS system at https://otcas.liaisoncas.com/applicant-ux/#/login. Application portal opens in July of each year for admission in January of the following year.
  • (History of any previous felonious activity can make it impossible for any person to become certified and licensed to practice occupational therapy)

Admission Timeline

Each year the MSOT Program at Wilmington College will accept and enroll up to 24 students. Applications are received on a rolling basis. Students are encouraged to apply for Early Decision admission by submitting their OTCAS application by June 1st. Students are encouraged to submit their OTCAS application for standard admission by October 1st. Applications will continue to be received and processed for admission after October 1st until all slots are filled. A student may apply for the program in OTCAS while completing prerequisite coursework.

Prerequisite Requirements

Specific requirements for consideration for admission to the Master of Science (MS) Program in Occupational Therapy include:

  • Evidence of a completed bachelor’s degree before starting the program.
  • A cumulative 3.0 undergraduate GPA (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Completion of all prerequisite courses as follows:

A grade of “B” or better in the following courses:

  • Human Anatomy w/ lab (4 credit hours)
  • Human Physiology w/ lab (4 credit hours)
    • (Equivalent Alternative: 4 credit Anatomy/Physiology I course & 4 credit Anatomy/Physiology II course, both with labs)
  • Statistics Course (3 credit hours)

A grade of “C” or better in the following courses:

  • Developmental Psychology (lifespan) (3 credit hours)
  • Abnormal Psychology (3 credit hours)
  • Behavioral Science Elective (3 credit hours)
  • Medical Terminology (1-2 credit hours)
  • Intro to Sociology or Anthropology (3 credit hours)

Required Documents

In addition to the official transcript, applicants must also submit the following documents to complete the application process:

  1. A current personal resume.
  2. Evidence of a minimum of 10 hours of job shadowing with an OT professional in a minimum of 2 different practice settings. (5 hours in each/2 completed forms required)
  3. Two written references from professional individuals who can address work/school habits, ability to work well with others, and commitment to goals.

Individuals who submit completed applications, and who are considered potential candidates, may then be invited to an interview with faculty to determine final cohort selection. Being interviewed does not guarantee admission to the program.

Also, please note that each completed admissions application is only good for the year in which it is submitted. Individuals who do not receive admission to the program, and who wish to re-apply for the next year, must submit a new application to be considered.

*** No transfer credits from other OT graduate programs will be accepted for the Occupational Therapy Program at Wilmington College.
